Music video production bible

Alkyvad, "Phlebotomy"

Role
Producer, production manager
Type
Pre-production

Development and pre-production for a horror-tinged music video, from mood board to storyboards, script, and schedule.

Inspired by conspiracy theories, spiritual awakening, and the raw energy of live shows, this project blends suspense, horror, and cinematic ambition.

  • Mood board: themes of horror and mystery came out of early conversations to heighten tension.
  • Storyboards: the vision included intricate VFX, planned with fallback approaches to keep it feasible.
  • Script, breakdowns, and reports.
  • Schedule: 7 days of 3 to 5 hour shoots, including live footage from a basement show.

Themes: transformation, identity, choice, temptation, the power of music. Style: dark and gritty, fast editing, symbolic imagery, high-energy performance.

How it ended

When alignment broke down, scope was reduced, and the project was finished cleanly on reality’s terms.

A production bible isn’t just a creative document. It’s a boundary-setting tool. When creative authority is unclear or keeps getting overridden, production management’s job becomes protecting completion, clarity, and the work itself. Define who leads creatively, who contributes, and when decisions are final, especially in artist-led collaborations.
